Among the many other things happening simultaneously during these last several weeks–the Primary Election, the Post-Primary Delegate Election, and some City Councilors attempting to undermine our entire City’s democracy–the DPBC also held an election for the First Vice Chair position. We are pleased to announce the results!
The Democratic Party of Bernalillo County Central Committee elected Chase Jacques-Maynes as our new First Vice Chair. In his short time with the party, he’s already taken charge of technology fixes for accessibility options in our Zoom accounts, he’s participated in several county wide meetings, and he’s ready and energized to get Democrats elected in November.
Of course, as all of this was going on, the DPBC was also busy looking to find a 2nd Vice Chair to appoint, and we’ve found her! You may recognize Abby Foster from the 2023 municipal elections, as she ran for City Council in District 4, coming within less than 200 votes from winning. The success of Abby’s run is that we now very clearly understand that the far Northeast Heights has great potential for flipping to BLUE. Since her run, Abby has remained active in local politics, and is our newly appointed 2nd Vice Chair!
Each new officer will be appointed to the State Central Committee, and each holds an integral role within our local party operation. Expect to see Chase involved in Ward and Precinct Chair support activities, including training, and expect to see Abby involved in the facilitation of internal party elections and other technical aspects of party business. Both are eager and ready to get started in ramping up support and energy for Democrats in Bernalillo County.
Please congratulate and welcome our newest officers, Chase and Abby!
